I have the whole Hush, Hush series but again, they sit on my Nook and wait for me to get to them!

        

Meg Cabot

I have a bunch of her books too (do you see a trend here?) and my daughter loves the Princess Diaries series so I have to get going on these to see why.  I did love the movie though!

    

Lauren DeStefano

I have read such great reviews about her books and again, I have them all so just need to get to them!

   

Brenna Yovanoff

Her books look so creepy to me and I just bought Fiendish!  I can't wait to read some of them!

   

Cynthia Hand

Again, I have the whole Unearthly series but haven't read it yet.  I really need to get moving, huh?

   

Allie Condie

I bet you can't guess what I'm gonna say...yep, have the whole series but nope, haven't read them!

   

Rachel Vincent

I really want to read her Soul Screamers series.  It looks amazing!

 

Veronica Roth

I've recently bought the Divergent series and I am looking forward to getting it read.

 

Rachel Hawkins

She's another author that I am excited to read!  I love books about witches so this should be right up my alley!

 

I think what I have figured out from this post is that I need to get reading more of my TBR pile!

Top Ten Tuesday

 

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  This week's topic is the top ten books dealing with tough subjects.

Here are my top ten "tough" books to read:

1.  Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys.  This books deals with WWII  but it's not your typical WWII book about Hitler.  It is about Stalin and his abuse of the Lithuanian people.  It was heartbreaking but a must read!

2.  The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne.  Another WWII book but this time it is about Hitler.  This book is told through the eyes of a young boy who's father has moved the family.   While exploring, he meets another little boy in "striped pajamas" on the other side of the fence.  What happens next is ironic and heartbreaking.

 

3.  Pretty Girl-13 by Liz Coley.  This book was about a girl who was abducted. While reading what happened to the girl and how she dealt with it, I was very disturbed.  It was a very good book but a very difficult one to process.

4.  My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.  This book deals with cancer and even worse, it deals with a child who has cancer.  It also deals with a sister who is being used (in my opinion) by her parents to cure her sick sister.  It was just a very sad and emotional book and the end was totally ironic.

5.  Breaking Beautiful by Jennifer Shaw Wolf.  This book dealt with death and an abusive/jealous relationship.  While that might be enough of a "tough" subject for some, what made this book a tough read for me was the main character and her self blame and weakness.  I didn't care for the book because of the main character and her pathetic demeanor.  

6.  The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.  The relationship between Amir and Hassan is amazing.  It also takes place during a time of unrest in Afghanistan.  An extremely emotional read about friendship and betrayal.

7.  The Murder's Daughters by Randy Susan Meyers.  This book deals with domestic violence, murder, guilt and forgiveness.  It definitely worth reading despite the difficult topics.

8.  Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult.  This is a book about false accusations.  It amazes me at how some people do not understand the consequences of their actions or their words.  A false accusation will follow someone even after proven untrue.  When someone accuses someone of something just to "get even", it really bothers me.  That's what you've got in this book.

 

9.  Night by Elie Weisel.  This is another heartbreaking book about WWII.  I had to read this in high school along with The Diary of Anne Frank.  This one affected me SO much more than Anne Frank did.  It was so amazing.  This is a book my kids will definitely be made to read!

10.  Something Like Normal by Trish Doller.  This book was about PTSD.  Travis comes home from war where his friend was killed.  It is so emotional!  I read this book in one day...it was that good!

I chose to go with the Top 10 books I am excited to read in 2012!

1.  Diva by Jillian Larkin
I love this series and love anything to do with Flappers!  I cannot wait to get this on in my hands!



2.  The Selection by Kiera Cass
If the cover alone doesn't make you want to read it, the blurb on Goodreads should!  This one sounds amazing!



3.  Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer
Another series that I love!  Can't wait to see what happens with Calla, Shay and Ren!



4.  The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead
I loved Vampire Academy and really enjoyed Bloodlines.




5.  The Lucky Ones (Bright Young Things #3) by Anna Godbersen
I like anything by Godbersen but again, I love Flappers so this series is a must!




6.  Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake
Anna Dressed in Blood was probably one of my favorite books of 2011!  I seriously cannot wait to read this one!




7.  A Million Suns by Beth Revis
I am actually reading Across the Universe right now and loving it.  I am on an ARC tour of A Million Suns so I'm totally excited to be reading it soon!




8.  Enchanted by Alethea Kontis
I love fairytale retellings and this is a retelling of The Frog Prince.




9.  The Gathering Storm by Robin Bridges
Ooh, this book sounds so good and I have read a lot of good things about it!  Can't wait to get my hands on it!




10.  What She Left Behind by Tracy Bilen
This one just sounds really good! I love a good mystery!

Top Ten Books I Just HAD To Buy…
But Are Still Sitting On My Bookshelf

1.  City of Glass by Cassandra Clare:  I have read the first two and had to have the third.  I bought it at Costco for a great price and it is still sitting unread on my shelf.

2.  Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare:  I had high hopes that I would finish the City of Glass before Clockwork Angel came out.  I even pre-ordered it for my Nook. 

3.  Catching Fire and Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins:  I have Hunger Games in hard copy but bought the other two at our local book fair.  I have read The Hunger Games (and loved it) but that's as far as I've gotten.

4.  Paranormalcy by Kiersten White:  Yep, another I just had to have immediately and it is still waiting to be read.

5.  The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova:  My friend told me how great this book was (she said it was the best vampire book she's ever read) so I bought it.  I really do want to read it though.

6.  Hidden Wives by Clare Avery:  I read a review about this one on a blog and thought it sounded so good that I went out and bought it right away. 

7.  Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink:  Another one I read a lot of reviews of and thought it sounded really good.  I have the second one too but haven't read either.

8.  Break No Bones by Kathy Reichs:  I love the Temperance Brennan series!  So, I got as far as Break No Bones and then I bought it and the ones after it but got overwhelmed with ARCs.

9.  Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl:  Another one I bought at the Book Fair.  I have heard a lot about it and can't wait to read it!

10.  The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis:  I bought this after seeing the first movie.  I think the largeness of it scares me off but I do want to get to it soon.
